Evans GP is pleased to confirm its first three drivers for the 2025 Formula Trophy Series, which will take place in November and December this year.

The first confirmed driver is Rafael Vaessen, who made his car racing debut with Evans GP at the final round of the South East Asia Formula 4 Championship earlier this year. Vaessen will compete in the first two rounds of the 2025 Trophy Series but will miss the final event due to a schedule clash with his karting commitments. He continues to participate in high-level karting competitions and is expected to make a full-time switch to cars in 2026, with the Trophy Series providing an important step in his transition from karting to single-seater racing.

Joining him will be young Australian driver Hunter Salvatore, who steps up from the Australian Formula Ford Championship. Salvatore made his car racing debut at the end of last year and has already shown strong potential with podium finishes in Formula Ford. In preparation for the move into Formula Trophy, he has been undertaking testing with Evans GP in the team’s Toyota 86 Evans GP Academy cars, which has been an important part of his development. He has also recently completed Formula 4 testing with the team at Sepang International Circuit, gaining valuable experience ahead of his Trophy Series debut.

Both Vaessen and Salvatore have taken the opportunity to test with the team at Sepang International Circuit, gaining valuable experience in working with the engineers and mechanics, as well as learning the characteristics of the Tatuus car that will be used in the Trophy Series.

The third driver to join the line-up is Vietnamese racer Ben Nguyen, who made his car racing debut this year in the South East Asia Formula 4 Championship. Due to school commitments, Nguyen will contest selected rounds of the Trophy Series while preparing for a full campaign with Evans GP in the 2026 Formula 4 Middle East Championship. This week, Nguyen has been working closely with the team on its professional driving simulator and also completed skid pan driving sessions in one of the Evans GP Academy cars to further his technical understanding and car control.

The team has been impressed with the attitude and commitment shown by all three drivers in their preparation programmes and looks forward to supporting their development over the coming months.

Evans GP will confirm its remaining seat in the coming weeks. The team enters the 2025 Trophy Series aiming to build on its form from last season, where Kai Daryanani secured the Drivers’ Championship, and to carry forward its success across Asia, where Evans GP won the Drivers’, Teams’, and Masters’ Championships in the South East Asia Formula 4 Championship.

The Formula Trophy Series is a highly regarded championship run with the Tatuus chassis, as used in Europe, and from 2025 will utilise Pirelli tyres, the same brand supplied to numerous top-level single-seater series worldwide.
