Evans GP has completed an extensive two month testing programme at Sepang International Circuit, working with a number of young drivers from across the region as preparations continue for upcoming Formula 4, Formula Regional and endurance racing programmes.

The testing programme included running Formula Regional, Formula 4, Mazda MX5 and Toyota 86 machinery, giving drivers valuable experience across multiple categories and driving styles.

Drivers involved across the programme included Aaron, Aaryan, Ben, Kareen, Maxim, Nawin and Rafael, with several drivers undertaking intensive mixed-category programmes, at times driving both Formula Regional and production-based race cars such as the Mazda MX5 and Toyota 86 on the same day.

The varied nature of the programme created a demanding environment for the drivers, requiring them to quickly adapt between significantly different vehicle characteristics, tyre behaviour and driving techniques. Evans GP believes this type of varied seat time is an important tool in accelerating driver development and racecraft.

Conditions across the two months also varied significantly, with the team and drivers experiencing everything from hot and sunny conditions through to heavy rain, thunderstorms and cooler track temperatures. The changing conditions provided additional opportunities for drivers to improve adaptability and learn to manage changing grip levels around one of Asia’s most technically demanding circuits.

Evans GP was also pleased to welcome British Formula 3 Champion Enaam Ahmed and Andrea Todisco across several test days, assisting with driver coaching and development throughout the programme.

Being based at Sepang International Circuit continues to provide Evans GP and its drivers with a significant advantage. As a former Formula 1 venue featuring a wide range of high speed corners, technical sections and heavy braking zones, the circuit remains one of the strongest driver development tools in the region.

The team now shifts its focus towards the upcoming race events and continued testing programmes across Formula 4, Formula Regional and production-based categories.
